What We Believe
WE BELIEVE!
THE INSPIRED WORD OF GOD – The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God to man, the infallible authoritative rule of faith and conduct.
THE TRINITY–The one true God is revealed in the Scriptures as embodying the principles of relationship and association as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST–The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God.
The Scriptures declare:
1) His virgin Birth,
2) His sinless life,
3) His miracles,
4) His substitutionary and vicarious death on the cross,
5) His bodily resurrection from the dead,
6) His being on the right hand of God.
MAN'S SINFUL NATURE–Man was created good and upright, but by voluntary transgression fell and thereby incurred both physical and spiritual death and separation from God.
MAN'S REDEMPTION–Man's only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
1) Condition to salvation is repentance of sin and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ.
2) Evidence of salvation is the inward direct witness of the Spirit, and the outward evidence is a life of righteousness and holiness.
WATER BAPTISM AND THE LORD'S SUPPER–The ordinance of baptism by immersion is commanded in the Scriptures. All who repent and believe on Christ as Savior and Lord are to be baptized. Thus, they declare to the world that they have died with Christ and that they also have been raised with him to walk in newness of life.
The Lord's Supper, consisting of the elements, bread and the fruit of the vine is the symbol expressing our sharing the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ; a memorial of his suffering and death; and a prophecy of His second coming and is enjoined on all believers "till He come".
BAPTISM IN THE HOLY GHOST–All believers are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, and baptism in the Holy Ghost and fire, according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. This was the normal experience of all in the early Christian church. With it comes the endowment of power for life and work of the ministry. This experience is distinct from and subsequent to the new birth. With the baptism in the Holy Ghost comes such experiences as an overflowing fullness of the Spirit, a deepened reverence for God, an intensified consecration to God and dedication to His work and a more active love for Christ, for His Word and for the lost.
SPEAKING IN TONGUES–the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives them utterance witnesses the baptism of believers in the Holy Ghost. The speaking in tongues in this instance is the same in essence as the gift of Tongues, but different in purpose and use. Act 2:4 WEB They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other languages {tongues}, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak. Act 19:6 WEB When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke with other languages {tongues} and prophesied.
SANCTIFICATION–Sanctification is an act of separation from that which is evil, and of dedication unto God. The Scriptures teach a life of "holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord". By the power of the Holy Ghost, we are also to obey the command: "Be ye holy, for I am holy."
Sanctification is realized in the believer by recognizing his identification with Christ in His death and resurrection, and by faith reckoning daily upon the fact of the union, and by offering every faculty continually to the dominion of the Holy Spirit.
BOOK OF LIFE–The Church is the Body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of the great commission. Each believer born of the Spirit is an integral part of the invisible church, whose name is written in Heaven.
EVANGELISM AND EDIFICATION–The divinely called and scripturally ordained ministry has been provided by our Lord for a two-fold purpose.
a) The evangelization of the world.
b) The edifying of the Body of Christ.
HEALING–Divine healing is an integral part of the Gospel. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement, and is the privilege of all believers. James 5:14-15 WEB Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, 15 and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
RESURRECTION–The resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord is the imminent and blessed hope of the Church. 1Cor 15:12-23 WEB Now if Christ is preached, that he has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither has Christ been raised. 14 If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, and your faith also is in vain. 15 Yes, we are found false witnesses of God, because we testified about God that he raised up Christ, whom he didn't raise up, if it is so that the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead aren't raised, neither has Christ been raised. 17 If Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain; you are still in your sins. 18 Then they also who are fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If we have only hoped in Christ in this life, we are of all men most pitiable. 20 But now Christ has been raised from the dead. He became the first fruits of those who are asleep. 21 For since death came by man, the resurrection of the dead also came by man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then those who are Christ's, at his coming.
THE RAPTURE OF ALL BELIEVERS–The rapture of the saints, which is our blessed hope. Col. 1:27; 1Thes. 4:13-18 WEB But we don't want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don't grieve like the rest, who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 15 For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left to the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with God's trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first, 17 then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
CHRIST'S SECOND COMING–The Second Coming of Christ, the visible return of Christ with His saints to reign on the earth for one thousand years. This millennial reign will bring the salvation of national Israel and the establishment of universal peace. Rev 19:11-15 WEB I saw the heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it is called Faithful and True. In righteousness he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are a flame of fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has names written and a name written which no one knows but he himself. 13 He is clothed in a garment sprinkled with blood. His name is called "The Word of God." 14 The armies, which are in heaven, followed him on white horses, clothed in white, pure, fine linen. 15 Out of his mouth proceeds a sharp, double-edged sword, that with it he should strike the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod. He treads the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God, the Almighty.
THE FINAL JUDGMENT–There will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their works. Whosoever is not found written in the Book of Life, together with the devil and his angels, and beast and false prophet, will be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake, which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. Rev. 19:20; 20:14; 21:8.
RIGHTEOUSNESS–"We, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness."
